Yes, NDI is versatile and can transmit metadata, control signals, and other ancillary data along with video and audio streams.
How do I choose between wired or wireless NDI connection?
You have the flexibility to choose either wired or wireless based on your needs. For enhanced stability in less-than-ideal network conditions, we recommend using a wired NDI connection. Tail 2 features a built-in Ethernet port for direct wired connection, while Tail Air requires a USB-C to Ethernet adapter for wired NDI connection.
Can NDI and HDMI be used simultaneously with OBSBOT Tail Air?
OBSBOT Tail Air doesn't support simultaneous output of NDI and HDMI video signals.
Can an NDI license key be used on multiple OBSBOT devices (Tail 2/Tail Air)?
No. A single NDI license key is tied to one OBSBOT device (either Tail 2 or Tail Air).
What NDI formats do OBSBOT Tail 2 and Tail Air support?
Both OBSBOT Tail 2 and Tail Air support NDI|HX, NDI|HX2 and NDI|HX3.
Do I need to purchase an additional NDI License Key after purchasing the UVC to NDI Adapter?
There is no need for additional purchase required for NDI connection after you purchased the UVC to NDI Adapter.
Is there a memory card slot in the UVC to NDI Adapter for recording?
Yes, it includes a Micro SD slot that supports a memory card for recording real-time video from your webcam. The recommended type is a Micro SD Card (up to 512GB) -exFAT (recommended) / FAT32. A U3 card with a minimum write speed of 30MB/S is also recommended.
Can I control the webcam device connecting with the UVC to NDI Adapter remotely?
Remote operability is enabled via a USB-A 2.0 port, compatible with OBSBOT Tiny Smart Remote 2 and OBSBOT Meet Remote Control.
Is PoE an option for powering the UVC to NDI Adapter?
Indeed, the UVC to NDI Adapter supports PoE (Power over Ethernet) connection. When a PoE connection is available, it can power the adapter, eliminating the need for an external power source.
How can the UVC to NDI Adapter be powered without PoE?
Without PoE, the UVC to NDI Adapter can be powered via an external power supply with the included cable. It accepts a USB-C input from 5V to 20V and is PD 3.0 compatible. The power source, whether external or PoE, won't affect the adapter's performance and depends on your preference and setup.
What video resolutions does the UVC to NDI Adapter support?
The adapter facilitates resolutions up to 4K, including 3840 x 2160, 2560 x 1440, and 1920 x 1080, at various frame rates.
Which OBSBOT devices currently support the NDI protocol?
OBSBOT Tail 2 and Tail Air require an NDI license key for NDI functionality. For OBSBOT webcam series (including Tiny 2, Tiny 4K, etc.), users can enable NDI by simply using the OBSBOT UVC to NDI Adapter, with no additional license required. Additionally, OBSBOT Talent supports NDI protocol for video streaming and remote control of connected OBSBOT devices.
